Welcome to
Friendship Ministries

From its beginning over twenty years ago, Friendship Ministries has been "sharing God’s love with people who have cognitive impairments and helping them become active members of God’s family." (Mission statement).

Believing that everyone belongs, and everyone serves, Trinity Church has invited persons with intellectual impairments to participate in the worship, fellowship, and teaching programs of our congregation.  Through the Friendship Ministry and its mentoring emphasis, those who are often marginalized from society at large, and, often from the Body of Christ due to physical and mental challenges, are welcomed to serve the church using their unique gifts and talents.  Our Friendship students also study the Bible in a setting that enables them to grow and have their faith challenged using the Friendship Ministry Bible curriculum.  Who benefits from the Friendship program?  Everyone! The Body of Christ is built up by the inclusion of people who live with differences.  Our students have a Trinity friend with whom they can share their faith and life.  And Trinity members are blessed by the unique contributions of our students.  It's a win, win ministry.

On Wednesday evenings from mid-September through early May, Trinity’s Friendship Club meets for worship, prayer, Bible lessons, and coffee fellowship in the worship center. Students with cognitive impairment are paired with a Trinity mentor friend for all the activities of the evening. After a very visual and dramatic Bible lesson taught in a whole group setting, students meet with their mentor friends in a one-to-one situation to review the lesson and make personal application as well as have a time of prayer together. Both students and mentors grow in their knowledge of each other and the Lord.

Currently our Friendship Club has 12 students who live in area Adult Foster Care Homes or are members of Trinity Church.  We're thankful to be able to reach these students with the gospel story that Jesus lived and died for them. We encourage each of our students to love Jesus and accept His love for them, and then to serve Him with their lives.
